Competition
There's an unspoken rule amongst most admins; you don't necessarily have to like each other, but if someone outside of the "admin circle" does something that is considered to be an "attack," then it not only effects that one person, but it effects the entire admin circle. We bind together like a wall of support and we will fight until the death to make sure that justice has been paid.
Otherwise it's pretty much every admin for themself. In an ideal world we would all work cohesively and have fantastic communication skills, but that's hardly ever the case. We always have some kind of issues about one thing or another and of course there's always going to be drama, big or small. One girl doesn't like the way another girl talks, or her processes for certain things. That's just how the machine runs I guess.
So its been a couple of months since Jackie started working here.
I think I've given her plenty time to make an impression and I've done my very best to not hate on her, so I think I feel pretty confident when I say...
I don't like the useless bitch.
There are three admins here at Headquarters who support everyone directly at this one location. If you add up all of those bodies it rounds out to roughly two-hundred and fifty people. We also support all of the other folks at different sites around the country (and a small handful around the world) and if we tally every single one of those bodies up, in reality we really support close to nine hundred people.
That's a lot of names to have whirling around.
I handle the timecards, supplies, expense reports, and other random jobs that are handed to me and for the most part (ever since I was cleared) I stay consistantly busy.
Jackie handles who knows what. Apparently she's supposed to be helping with the PDS forms and dabbling in staffing, but I have yet to see her with any stacks of paper on her desk and I've never seen her drag her ass downstairs for the staffing meeting. I do attend the staffing meeting (not regularly, but on some rare occasions) and it's pretty useful stuff and every single week there's a new update to talk about.
Here is what I know what Jackie does do:
-She talks constantly about random shit that nobody cares about.
Yep. That's about it.
Every single time I see her she's asking folks (well, only the men really) whether or not they're married, if they have any kids, or if they were in the military.
That's fine to make conversation with new people when you just started a new job and want to get to know your co-workers, but whenever she's talking to them it sounds like she's searching for a husband and those are the credentials that she has on her checklist.
I remember when D worked here. She was pretty useless too, but if I ever had to ask her about something, I knew she would know how to do it. Well, she would at least know who to contact who would do the work for her.
Jackie on the other hand is the girl who only knows how to say, "I don't know."
Whenever I call her, that's all she says. Lord, it gets so tiring hearing that.
I never really got over the fact that she stole my desk either. It's not just the fact that it's a gorgeous L-shaped desk with tons of storage that I would kill to have. The location is prime. It's right there in front of the PMs and you're constantly in the thick of everything. You can see and hear everything, and I love that. Do you know how much easier it would be to reach people sitting there?
A whole crap load. That's how much easier.
Since I'm moving upstairs next Friday (Woot!) they've already picked out an area for me.
It's in a cubical. It's in a corner. It's a dark corner at that, since they never turn the lights on that side of the building. And it's on the opposite side of the building where nobody goes, hence why the lights stay turned off.
Not exactly the most ideal place for an admin.
I'm not bitter about it though. I'm already mentally setting up my desk and I'm determined to liven that dark corner up. It's going to be the coolest cubicle ever and everyone will be flocking towards the side of the building that never gets used because they're going to need to see me.
That's right. ME. Not Jackie.
It'll be good to have a quiet place to work on OT PreAuthorization and listen to my music at a decent volume. I'll be able to make phone calls without being interrupted by others who just randomly walk up and demand my attention RIGHT. THEN. AND. THERE. I have a conference room right next to me (just like on the 3rd floor) and if I need some extra space I'll just use that since people hardly have meetings in there.
Jackie doesn't have an entire conference room next to her.
I'm predicting though that she'll either move on to a different job, or eventually, with given time, I'll boot her out. I complained about M and Le Bitch and look at what happened to them. M is gone and Le Bitch was forced to find a replacement for me so I could go upstairs. I know that I'm clearly more needed than she is and I've got seniority. I'll keep on learning about what SuperAdmin does and before I leave for school I'm determined to get that goddamned L-shaped desk. Even if it's only for one day. I want it.
Gosh, sometimes I can be such a bitch.
