Curls, cigarettes and cars.
She's back.
Lauren. She has come back from Florida for a month to help out with some work up here and I'm SO EXCITED.
She told me last week that our company would be sending her back up here to help Momma out with some work. She'd be staying at the same hotel, we'd have a new rental car to drive around in and lord! the happy hours were going to be ten times more fun now that she was coming back.
Sure, there's work that needs to be done and I know that this isn't a vacation. We can't just hang out and talk about boys all day while we let our nails dry and chew annoyingly on our bubble gum. We will be working. We have to. There's so much shit that needs to be done. But that doesn't mean that on our days off we won't be squeezing every minute of every day hanging out, talking about boys and letting our nails dry while we chew annoyingly on bubble gum. We have TONS to catch up on. Some things just can't be talked about over work emails (which is how we've been keeping in contact these past couple of months). They have to be discussed over drinks after work while we have cigarettes dangling from in between our fingers.
I saw her this morning when I went downstairs to pick up some office supplies that I ordered last week and it was a great movie moment. We screamed, hugged and smiled in front of five other strangers who were looking at us like crazy lunatics. It was fabulous. She immediately commented on how tan I was and I noted that her hair was so curly!
"The perm, girlfriend! Remember?"
"Oh my gosh, that's right. It's so cute!"
We weren't able to properly catch up since she had to go to an orientation-type thing and I had to get back to my gopher duties. We planned for lunch though and did a bit more catching up while stuffing our faces with soft tacos and chicken fingers.
No time had passed and it felt just like six months ago when we would sit together and talk about the daily drama that was occuring in our lives. Obviously we made plans to get together on the weekend and I'm going to be staying at her hotel next week so that we can hang out more after work. Momma said that she couldn't stay with us again because that was far too many females in her house and she wasn't used to it. The hotel is probably a better option for us anyway. They have a pool. And we can smoke inside. Nice.
